Orlando Health South Lake Hospital Celebrates Arrival of First Baby in 2026

Community and hospital staff welcome Baby Koast, marking a joyful start to the new year.

At 5:49 a.m. on January 1, 2026, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital joyfully welcomed its first newborn of the year, Baby Koast.

Weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and measuring 20.5 inches long, Koast's arrival brought immense happiness to the hospital staff and the local community.

To commemorate this special occasion, the Central Florida Diaper Bank generously donated a year's supply of diapers—approximately 3,600—to Koast's family.

This organization is dedicated to promoting the healthy growth and development of children from newborn to age three by providing essential resources to families in need.

The Orlando Health South Lake Hospital Center for Women and Babies offers comprehensive care for women, encompassing services from pre-pregnancy through postpartum.

Board-certified obstetricians, along with experienced nurses and lactation consultants, provide support and resources to ensure the well-being of both mothers and infants.

In recognition of its commitment to accessible maternity care, the hospital was recently named to U.S. News & World Report's 2026 Maternity Care Access Hospitals list.

This distinction highlights the facility's role in serving communities that might otherwise lack adequate maternity services.

As part of the Orlando Health network, a private not-for-profit healthcare system, South Lake Hospital continues to uphold its mission to improve the health and quality of life for individuals and communities across the southeastern United States.

Founded over a century ago, Orlando Health remains dedicated to providing a complete continuum of care through its extensive network of medical centers, specialty hospitals, and community services.

Congratulations to Baby Koast and family on this joyous occasion!
